Our Story

We are the Carters and this is

our story-

Sometimes in life we cross paths with others who make such a big impact on the world that you can’t help but naturally be drawn to their energy. That is exactly what happened when we met Steve and Amy Rogers in 2019. Steve and Amy are both entrepreneurs and brilliant forward thinking visionaries who are making an impact on the world. We knew right away that we had big work to do together but that work wouldn’t be revealed to us for at least another year.

In June of 2019 Amy went to Guatemala with the Enactus Group from North Central College where she is the SEA (Self Employment In The Arts) director. The Enactus group from North Central have been working with the coffee farmers of Guatemala for over 15 years providing an avenue of direct trade. While visiting, one of the members of the group asked how they could help. The response was simple. “Compra mas cafe” or buy more coffee. The farmers are entrepreneurs and want to be self-sustaining however, other avenues for the farmers to sell their raw beans don’t provide them with a sustainable price.  Through an association that the group works with the farmers are able to set prices for their beans which is around double what they would get through other means. This allows them to afford healthcare, education for their children, and the ability to reinvest in their business.

The only issue is there isn’t enough demand to support all of the farmers that would like to sell through the association. They have the facilities as they are only at 20-30% capacity but not the sales.

This is why the farmer’s response was “compra mas cafe”. It was from this statement that Steve and Amy knew that they had to do something, launching their own coffee company and through them that we fell in love with the farmers of Guatemala and their mission, enticing us to do the same and launch The Carter Coffee Company, or Three C’s Coffee.

The more raw beans we can purchase from them, the more families that can be supported through the association. By partnering with North Central and the farmers association we are able to provide 100% single origin Arabica coffee sourced from the Atilan region of Guatemala. Shade grown in rich volcanic soil, under the canopy of the rainforest, our coffee is produced and harvested at an ideal altitude of 5,200-6,000 ft. above sea level. Roasted at a light, medium, or dark level, our coffee has tasting notes of cocoa, citrus, peach, berries, slight floral, and carmel. The coffee is roasted in North Central College’s coffee lab and packaged weekly.

Together we can do big things. Together we can “compra mas cafe” and make a big difference one cup at a time.

What You'll Find

Our beans are grown in the shade of the rainforest under the canopy and cultivated by farmers who know and love the land of the Atitlan region of Guatemala. Direct trade makes certain that the farmers get the best price for their beans and that we get the most amazing roasts delivered fresh weekly.  When you brew a cup of Three C’s you’ll brew the best and feel your best knowing that you’re doing your part to make this world  go round’

Our Why

Over a decade ago we made a promise to each other. That promise was this- we would strive to live every day with an abundance of gratitude, love and deep connection to others. We hit a lot of obstacles and hard times and it took us awhile to realize that each obstacle was a lesson, bringing us closer to our why. After learning how to truly live in flow and committing to walk in our purpose every single day, the clarity came with such force that it was impossible to ignore. That’s when the Carter Coffee Co. was born. The amount of gratitude that we are experiencing is immeasurable and we are honored to be partnering and connecting with humans across the globe. Socially Conscious • Direct Trade • Global Love

With Love,

Terry & Jonelle Carter
